Beyond Domain Name Parking, Using Your Brain To Making More

November 13, 2007

Sure you can make money by parking your domain names, however their are many times when it simply makes more sense to spend the time need to create a real website. The good news for domainers with little knowledge about html, php or web design is that it has never been easer to publish a website that it is right now. With great blogging platforms like Wordpress anyone with the driven and ambition to make more can.

But Wordpress is blogging platform, I don’t want to create a blog!

Ah, who cares what it was made for years ago. Today many people and business are using wordpress to manage their website content. Wordpress is a powerful platform that is both simple to use and quite advanced in features. If you don’t want to make a blog you don’t have to, simple design a theme (or hire a coder at rentacoder.com or similar services) to look the way you want it too.

Another method I often use is to take a free Wordpress theme and tweak it to make it my own. I do this to extend my sites seo engine rankings that are not hard to come by if you follow a few simple rules. This my domaining friends is where the real power of creating a site comes from.

Search engines really don’t like parked pages, you can not really blame them.

Zero content, lots of ads. However by following a few simple rules you can easily establish search engine rankings that can often times multiply your traffic. Better yet after a while you will begin to be able to target not only more traffic but “target traffic”. Targeted traffic pays better because advertisers have a better idea of what kind of visitor they have coming to their pages. Targeted traffic pays more because you can partner with affiliate programs like ebay.

But I really don’t want to spend time writing content!

Well, if you have the cash you can hire out good content on the cheap. During the month of November I put a big chuck back into my business by hiring no less than four writers to produce articles for my sites. Often times you can find very good writers for under $10 a 500 word article. Bottom line is that you can either spend time or money to get this stuff done. The types of sites you can create will last for years, and your adsense check (or other affiliate checks) will put big smiles on your face.

Think about creating some sites for those prized domain names. It pays ;-)

    Hi Brian,

Another good video, but before you go and spend more money on articles are you aware that you can get free unique content posted to your wordpress blogs on a daily basis.?
It’s something found last month and it’s been going well. I blogged about it last month (http://income-academy.com/blog) and created a free download report which with a bit of hunting you should find on my blog under the Income generation category

    Hi Brian,
While I always love free there are a couple of downsides to using free article directories and I’ve used several.

    1. You’ll find the articles in many article directories really turn out to be short 1 or 2 paragraphs of information followed by the author’s pitch for his product and a link to his site.

    2. In the article directory cited above they will give the author 50% of what they earn. How does the article directory earn money so they can pay the author? By placing Ads in the article -That pay someone else - NOT YOU!

You can join paid for article club subscriptions in which you get a certain number of articles on the hot niche areas of the day. There’s no ad no author that needs to be cited.

Or you can go to a site like elance and put out to bid for someone to write some articles on the topic you desire. You can generally get something suitable written inexpensively. (Just make sure you check the feedback and see that they have gotten good reviews for this type of work.)

I don’t know about you but I don’t work to develop a site and work to drive trafic to that site to deliver my audience to someone else by having 70% of the page selling someone else’s product. Once someone finds the “article” interesting and clicks on the other guy’s link he’s probably gone from you site forever.

    All the best,
    Ted Sudol

    Hey Ted,

I think you missed my formula:

    1) I pick up a ranking doman in a niche area that pays well (Adsense).
    2) I hire someone to write unique articles that I own, no bio links …. my content.
    3) I post this content to my new domain
    4) It ranks and drives clicks, I get paid.

I never use articles from articles sites …
    Brian

Got something to say?
